The “Shiromuku” is a traditional and highly prestigious Japanese wedding kimono. Completely draped in pure white, it possesses a pristine, untainted beauty that many brides dream of wearing to experience authentic Japanese culture. However, because of its rich history and formal weight, some brides-to-be might feel, “It looks a bit too stiff and formal,” or “It might be difficult to express my true self while wearing it.”

Today, we are thrilled to introduce “poppy,” our new visual concept for the Shiromuku that completely overturns those conventional images! ♡ Our theme is “More Freedom, More You.” Instead of being strictly bound by traditional rules and customs, this concept is packed with inspiration to let your unique personality shine. We invite you to enjoy this refreshing new world of traditional Japanese bridal wear. ☺️

An Unconventional Shiromuku

The core concept this time is exactly that: “An Unconventional Shiromuku.”

We want you to showcase your natural charm more freely. Traditional Japanese attire is not something overly intimidating or exclusively for a select few. We propose an approachable, enjoyable style of commemorative photography that anyone can truly relax and have fun with.

Wataboshi × Shiromuku: A Space of Pure Innocence

The “Wataboshi” is a traditional, voluminous white hood worn exclusively with the Shiromuku. Since ancient times in Japan, wearing this hood to completely cover the face signified the bride’s pure devotion, symbolizing that “she will show her face to no one but her groom.” It carries a highly dramatic and romantic meaning, as the couple looks into each other’s eyes for the first time after the ceremony concludes.

Inspired by this beautiful Japanese tradition, we crafted a space that brings out the bride’s pure essence. We place great importance on soft, relaxed posing and creating an atmosphere that retains an innocent, pure charm. ♡

We balanced the beautiful, traditional silhouette of the Wataboshi with modern, see-through, piecey bangs. This prevents the look from feeling too heavy and instead creates a highly sophisticated and contemporary vibe.

We applied a warm, orange-toned makeup palette with a soft matte finish to wrap the bride in a gentle aura🍊

By sweeping blush smoothly across the bridge of the nose, we added a natural flush and a touch of innocent charm. Additionally, we placed sparkling pearls around the eyes to link seamlessly with her pearl earrings, expressing a playful and adorable aesthetic. ♡

What do you think? Even a traditional, highly formal garment like the Shiromuku can be reborn into a “personalized” and “approachable” style just by adjusting the balance of hair, makeup, and the atmosphere of the space.
