1. Traditional Japanese Props for a Timeless Look

When you think of Japan, you likely imagine elegant, timeless beauty.

Adding traditional elements to your shoot is a wonderful way to honor the local culture, especially if you are wearing a kimono or posing near historic sites.

Wagasa (Traditional Paper Umbrellas):

These are absolute must-haves! A bright red or purple wagasa creates a stunning pop of color.

They look incredibly romantic when held together by a couple under falling snow in Hokkaido or against a lush green bamboo forest.

Sensu (Folding Fans):

Elegant and versatile, folding fans can be customized with your names, your wedding date, or even traditional Japanese kanji representing “husband” (夫) or “wife” (妻).

Omamori (Good Luck Charms):

Japanese shrines sell beautiful little fabric amulets meant to bring luck, love, and protection.

Holding matching omamori is a subtle, meaningful way to bless your upcoming marriage.

2. Cute and Playful Props with a Japanese Twist

If your vibe as a couple is more fun and playful, you can easily blend “kawaii” (cute) Japanese culture into your pre-wedding photos without losing the romantic feel.

Kitsune (Fox) Masks:

For a touch of whimsy and mystery, traditional fox masks are fantastic.

You can wear them gently resting on the side of your heads or hold them playfully over your faces for a creative, slightly mystical shot.

Origami Cranes (Senbazuru):

In Japan, the crane is a symbol of longevity and good fortune.

Bringing a string of colorful, hand-folded paper cranes or scattering a few large ones around your picnic setup adds a beautiful, personalized touch.

Custom Japanese Calligraphy Signs:

Instead of a standard “Save the Date” sign, hire a local calligrapher to write it in beautiful Japanese brush strokes.

It is unique, artistic, and serves as a wonderful keepsake after the trip.

3. Highlighting Hokkaido: Props for Seasonal Splendor

Hokkaido is a dream destination for pre-wedding photography due to its dramatic seasonal changes.

Whether you are visiting the lavender fields of Furano in summer or the powdery snowscapes of Biei in winter, your props should match the environment!

Matching Winter Knitwear:

If you are braving the romantic Hokkaido winter, swap the traditional props for cute, matching mittens, scarves, or earmuffs. A colorful blanket to wrap around yourselves in the snow makes for an incredibly cozy, intimate shot.

Floral Crowns and Baskets:

For summer shoots in Hokkaido’s famous flower parks, embrace the natural beauty.

Use a woven basket filled with local lavender or wear a subtle floral crown made of seasonal Hokkaido blooms.

Warm Drinks and Mugs:

Holding steaming cups of hot cocoa or matcha in matching mugs while surrounded by a vast, white snowfield creates a perfectly relaxed and heartwarming aesthetic.

 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Can I bring my own personal props or sentimental items?

A: Absolutely!

We encourage couples to bring items that tell their unique story, such as engagement rings, childhood photos, or hobby-related goods.

There is no additional fee for bringing your own small props.

Please let our staff know in advance if you plan to bring larger items so we can assist with transport during location shoots.

Q: Do you provide traditional Japanese props like fans or umbrellas?

A: Yes, we provide standard Japanese props such as Wagasa (traditional umbrellas) and Sensu (folding fans) for use during your kimono shoot.

These are essential for capturing that “authentic Japan” look without you having to buy and carry them from overseas.

Q: Can I bring fresh flowers for my bouquet instead of using the rental ones?

A: Yes, you are welcome to bring a fresh flower bouquet.

However, please note that we do not provide refrigeration for fresh flowers at the studio.

Most of our clients find our high-quality rental bouquets very convenient and photogenic!
